Welcome to Riddim Builder: Reggae


At the end of this course you should be able to:

  • Appreciate how song form influences creative flow in the production process.
  • Understand when/how to use live instruments sampled/modeled instruments or a Hybrid approach in the production of Reggae tracks.
  • Create an instrumental using one of three Reggae subgenres.


Lastly, you’ll be able to see my approach to Reggae production and post-production.

Here are a few things that you’ll need to successfully complete this course:

  • A computer; laptop or desktop, windows or mac.
  • A DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) of your choice.
  • An Audio Interface.
  • A microphone (XLR or USB).
  • Headphones or Studio Monitors.
  • A midi keyboard.


Do note that it’s important for you to have a working knowledge of major scales as well as major and minor chords. In addition to that, you’ll need to know how to get around your DAW.
