About the Course


Gerd gives a brief synopsis of what you will learn in Reggae Rudiments.

Gerd Beyens, Instructor


Born in Belgium, Gerd Beyens studied jazz guitar at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp. 

After playing jazz and world music locally, he moved to Jamaica to teach at the Edna Manley College for Performing and Visual Arts. Being very active in the Kingston music scene, he performed and recorded with many artists. 

Six years later he moved to Belgium to study composition at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. In 2015 Gerd moved back to Jamaica and became Head of the Theory Department at the Edna Manley College. He currently teaches Music Theory, Arranging and Ensemble.
